Greetings from

President Lucy Miller

Greetings,

It is an honor to serve as President of the Baltimore Chapter, Continental Societies, Inc.® in its 70th Year Anniversary; and to be at the helm of an extraordinary group of ladies who have kept the promise of our founders to contribute to the community by supporting and enriching the lives of children.

In 1955, a group of 16 young African American professional women residing in Baltimore City became charter members of the Continental Society of the Virgin Islands.  The next year, the Baltimore Chapter, along with three (3) sister chapters withdrew from that organization to focus on needs of local children.  The Continental Societies quickly became a visible and viable organization of concerned women, such that in November 1972, Continental Societies Inc.® became nationally incorporated.  Today there are over 50 chapters across the United States.

Members of the Baltimore Chapter consistently demonstrate exceptional commitment of time, talents, and funds to fulfill the goals of the organization by providing  a variety of services and activities to children in the Baltimore Metropolitan area that enhance educational opportunities, promote health and wellness, explore careers, and enrich experiences in the arts.

As we celebrate this milestone of 70 wonderful, fulfilling years, we are reminded that it is not just our past accomplishments that define us, but our vision, as we look ahead to renewed hope and excitement for a bright future.  Our work to uplift the children of our community is the foundation of our Continental service.

Sincerely,

Lucy Jones Miller
